So here's what happened during Hogwarts first plot:
They didn't think that it would go that far. At first, it was just a few blood-extremists in Hogwarts meeting up together, in an infamous room that once belonged to the founder of Slytherin: the Chamber of Secrets. Nobody knows how they ever got in, or managed to open the room once again. But soon every one of them knew how to mimic a Parseltongue to open the chamber. They would meet regularly, exchanging their views on the First and Second Wizarding Wars, as well as their opinions on the current situation a blood status.
Then someone brought a basilisk egg.
The thought of hatching it was almost joyful to them. It would be them, rebuilding what Salazar Slytherin had left off. It would be a glorious project, reviving the founder's vision for Hogwarts. So they did hatch it, very carefully, making sure that none of them would see the creature in the eye. They would wear blindfolds, while one of them, Nicholas Cyneweard, the only one who could truly speak Parseltongue, would communicate with it. It was thrilling, how they would feel the small basilisk slither beside them, hissing.
Until one day, the basilisk left the chamber.
It can't be clear now if Nicholas had let out the creature on purpose, or had it merely went out on it's own. What is known is that the basilisk caught an unsuspecting professor, killed it with its petrifying gaze, and ate the poor woman for dinner. Coincidentally, she was a Muggle-born. After a few days the basilisk was let out again by Nicholas. This time, the giant snake killed off a Gryffindor prefect, Jet Canzo.
But it didn't get away with its crimes for long. Not long after the death of Jet Canzo, the Head Boy and Head Girl of the student council killed the basilisk. Investigators came to undercover who had brought in the basilisk. The blood-extremists panicked. They didn't expect things to be so serious. They hadn't expected someone to actually die. None of them wanted to held responsible for their actions. And Nicholas offered the perfect solution.
He pushed all the fault onto Scarlett Whitehead, a Hufflepuff student known for bringing in all kinds of magical creatures that she found. During the school year, she had brought an unknown egg into her dorm, and the creature had hatched and ran away before she could see it. Nicholas led the investigators to think that Scarlett had brought in a basilisk unknowingly, and as a result, Scarlett was expelled for the death of the professor and prefect. To secure their secret, all participants of the raising of the Basilisk willingly let Nicholas alter and erase their memory.
After the end of the school year, Nicholas was never seen in Hogwarts again.
