The actual basement itself is round, earthy, low-ceilinged, welcoming, warm, and sunny. There are lots of yellow hangings, burnished copper, and overstuffed sofas and armchairs upholstered in yellow and black, and circular windows that provide a vista of rippling grass and dandelions. Many interesting plants decorate the common room (some of which dance and talk), placed on the windowsills or hung from the ceiling, encouraging interest in Herbology. There is also a large, honey colored, wooden mantelpiece with carvings of badgers on it. This is located underneath a portrait of the house's founder, Helga Hufflepuff.

Gumo didn't stop running until he finally reached the Hufflepuff basement. Quickly setting his textbook aside, he reached down and tapped the correct rhythm on the correct lid that was given to them once they had arrived Hogwarts. The lid swung open immediately in response, "Quick, get it." he said as he shoved the two down into the Hufflepuff common room before leaping into the common room himself. Pulling the lid back down closed, he let out a sigh of relief as he started to pant from all the running earlier. "Well, we're safe now. Unless some Hufflepuff fan girl tells her how to get in, she'll get doused in vinegar if she tries to use a wrong pass code." he said as he flung his textbook to a seat across from him before collapsing onto a couch nearby.

Everhart glanced back briefly, then ducked into the Hufflepuff common room at Gumo's beckoning. He rubbed the back of his head, not showing any signs of exhaustion, but that was due to his incredible stamina. He stayed standing, feeling rather awkward here. He only ever set foot in Gryffindor or Ravenclaw's common room, the latter being only on occasions that he had wanted to speak with Arael. He surveyed the room with a quick sweep, taking in the numerous paintings, the house insignia, the oddly dancing plants, the cozy hearth. It was very comfortable here to say the least. Slowly, he sat down on a chair.

Arael stumbled in after them. Once she had gotten her footing back, she fixed her scarf and her hair a bit since the running had messed everything up. She slowly sat down on a chair and looked at her books, seeing if she still had that piece of paper. Thankfully she did. "Its rather nice." Arael said after a moment. She had never been in the Hufflepuff dorm, that was something she'd share with her sister once they returned after exploration. She could just imagine the confusion in her sister's face.

"It is nice. Probably the most relaxing place I've ever been i the whole entire world." Gumo replied as he remained flat on his back on the couch. "Care to introduce yourselves? I'm Gumo Megapoid, Hufflepuff student of no apparent importance other than beater of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. I know you," he said as he signaled towards Evenhart, "are from Gryffindor, and the scarf on your neck," he turned to Arael, "seems to be of Ravenclaw. But I don't know either of your names." his gaze returned to the ceiling above him. He was really worried that the fan girl would somehow break through; though it'd be funny if she ended up dosed in vinegar.

Everhart nodded to Arael, then also glanced at the door as Gumo did, half-expecting to hear of the fan-girl's failed exploit or possible victory, half-expecting nothing at all. He looked back at Gumo. "Everhart Ahlgrim: unfortunate soul assaulted by fangirls, which is perhaps the only thing people care to know me for. I'll let you decide how you wish to perceive me based on your assumptions." He leaned back in the chair. It was not entirely his fault that he had gotten roped into this event. He only became friends with the other two because Zachiel and then Aeternus roped him in. And when he grew and healed over time, girls started to take note of his new appearance, and suddenly they were everywhere. Sometimes Everhart played with the situation to his amusement, but really, as cheesy as it sounded, he liked just having his friends that knew him for him and actually cared, those being Arael, Zachiel, and Aeternus.

Arael pulled something from out of her cloak, that something was the cute blue plush teddy bear she had actually received during First year, it was a Seventh Year girl who had pity for Arael and helped her basically become the freaking genius today. She set her books down on her lap, as well as the plush teddy bear. "I'm Arael Blackfeather. The geekest Ravenclaw who lived." She said simply, people seemed to only know her for basically being either first or second when counting the exam scores because good lord. She pulled back her hair a bit to reveal the Blackfeather earring that she and her sister wear. "And there is your proof." She let her hair fall back into place.

"Well, I don't know much of the Gryffindor trio----as they call you----but my sister said that the three are quite nice and quite bothered by their fan girls most of the time." Gumo replied with a rather amused look as he slowly sat up. "And nice earring." he said as he smiled towards Arael. It seemed like he didn't know the significance the small jewelry held. "Your fan girls, however----and I apologize if this offends any of you----are cray lunatics who would lose any trace of sanity at the mention of one of your names." he said to Evenhart as he leaned back comfortably in the couch. "If you need proof of that, I would say that the girl who looked like she was going to murder me with her gaze today is good enough."

Everhart chuckled shortly at that. "Oh, I'm well aware of how crazy my so called fangirls are. Some of them aren't so much, but ones like Liel, well, she started it all. Her and her type are the worst. They just kind of lurk and strike from the shadows like dementors. But worse." He had seen a dementor at a distance, which had been plenty enough for him. He hated to think of any poor souls who actually encountered such creatures, and almost wish he had not made so light a joke about that. But enough of regret. He looked at Arael then back at Gumo.

"I'm a bit amazed the Ravenclaw Fan Girls of you are quite tame, because people in Ravenclaw actually care about their grades..." She said, but shivered at the mention of Liel. "I wonder if Zach and Aeternus have seen her yet today." She thought for a moment. "Speaking of which where are they?" She asked curiously, turning towards Everhart. "You guys are usually together on the first day."

Gumo was a bit surprised at Arael's comment. He had never seen a tame fan girl before; maybe because only the seemingly insane ones caught his attention. He didn't know which were worst, the Gryffindors or the Hufflepuffs. But Arael did have a point. If one of the trio was here, then where were the rest of them? He turned an inquiring gaze towards Evenhart, a bit curious for an answer.

Everhart was never partial to any of his fans, not truly and deeply at least. He only really ever showed favor when it suited him for his amusement. But he did have to admit, the Ravenclaws were much better about their craze. Granted, they could be pestering, but they were more like cats meowing for pets than stampeding rhinos lacking all sense of propriety as was the vast majority of the cult. But when he thought about it hard enough, who knew how far this fanclub was or how bad it was going to get. At least he only had two years to put under his belt, then he was out. But there was a pang in his heart at the thought of leaving. He was supposed to have it all together, was he not? Soon he would be leaving, and just as in the Viaduct courtyard, he was back to wondering where his life was going to go. He broke out of his reverie at the mention of his friends. He had long since admitted to himself that they were all joined at the hip. It was as out of place to see him without the other two (except in classes) as it was to see a Headless Horseman with a head on. “The other two..? Oh, I arrived earlier than them. I was just going to go head out to find them when Miss Winters swooped in.” He rubbed the leather cover of his textbook in slow circles as his mind drifted, but his face was still its usual, polite, pleasant mask. He was a little lax at hurrying to meet them now. Last he had seen Aeternus, they had gotten into a rather, well, heated debate about Aerea that did not end well. he was sure Aeternus was over it by now, but he did not want to assume anything.

Arael nodded slowly and said nothing. For the first time in a long while she had gotten some friends other than the usual chit-chatters she got along with in her own Dorm. Many of the Ravenclaw Fan girls were jealous that Arael became good friends with the Trio. How? She would still never know... Usually the one to bail the Trio was Liel's own older sister, a Hufflepuff named Ilia. Arael remember when she first met and bailed the Trio out, it was last year actually when she used a spell to make the ground completely ice. It was pretty funny to say the least, the reaction the guys had were priceless and for once, Arael felt pretty happy for once. "Maybe in a bit, or if Hufflepuff fangirls pour in, we can go and find them later on. I saw Zachiel walk into the Great Hall before I left to show my sister the Ravenclaw dorms." That was something else that was nice about this year, Candice was here and was a Ravenclaw as well. Perhaps she could introduce her new friends to her little sister who was wanting to join Quidditch. That would be quite the sight.

"Well, in case you ever need to talk shelter in the Hufflepuff Basement again, the pass code is to tap out the rhythm of 'Helga Hufflepuff' on the barrel two from the bottom, middle of the second row. At least that's what it is for now. If it changes you can come ask me for it." Gumo said as he stood up and walked over to his textbook. "Just keep in mind that sometimes the Hufflepuff fan girls can be kind of crazy too. It's better to disguise yourself in a, er, less noticable way."

Everhart doubted he would ever come hiding in here from crazed fangirls. Certain areas of the school worked out much better for that sort of thing. Or the Forbidden Forest. He could do just fine in there, being able to turn into a boar at will should the need arise. But he appreciated Gumo's gesture, taking some slight offense to the thrown out comment. A lopsided grin came to his face. "Some things don't just disappear, you know," he said lowly.

Arael slowly stood up and gathered her things as well when she noticed the glowing and terrifying eyes of some people from nearby, hiding out of sight. She turned towards the two pushed them along. "Hurry. They've noticed and they're going to murder us." She said quickly, looking back at the crazed psychopaths and their widened eyes. She felt a shiver go down her spine as she tried to shove the two out of the room.

"Already?" Gumo's eyes widened as they met with the horrific gaze known as the fan girls' glare. A shiver was sent down his spine. "Let's get out of here as soon as possible; I really don't want to get in trouble on the first day of school. Maybe it'll be better in wherever your pals are." he said as he shuffled through the common room entrance, not forgetting to pick up his bag and textbook.

Everhart chuckled. "Yes, let's hope they have all the luck today." He followed them out of the room. But upon exiting, as they were in the hall, something caught his attention, and without really meaning to, he left the two of them and seemed to disappear entirely down one of Hogwarts' many halls.

Long haul away, Arael had the face of serious Mikasa Face when she noticed Everhart had vanished. Perhaps among the fangirl chaos, he ended up fleeing another way to distract them. She came to a stop as well, ending up unintentionally wandering away from Gumo in the process, and soon she was caught in the crowd of students once again.
