The Viaduct Courtyard (also known as the Entrance Courtyard) is a quadrangle in Hogwarts Castle. A covered stone cloister with an open colonnade runs around it, and two checkpoint towers flank its entryway via the Viaduct. There is a stone walkway leading from this courtyard into The Quad, and into the Viaduct Entrance. The courtyard is partially paved, in a cross pattern. A popular hang-out spot for students of all Houses, this courtyard is where some students spend their spare time playing Gobstones.

Everheart sat on the steps, scribbling things down in his notes as he read the potions book that was open on his lap. He grimaced and scratched the top of his head, messing up his three-toned hair. With a soft 'tsk', he went back to writing, having remembered whatever it was he was supposed to write. "Oh, that's what kneazle hair does to it... no wonder it didn't work." This year he was going to get more serious about his studies. He had been passing his classes with mediocre grades, but then the Head of Gryffindor had approached him and given him a stern talking to about his future. Everheart paused and set his pen down. Future... what future? He looked up at the sky, gray with clouds. All I ever knew was hunting werewolves... but that's hardly an honored career track, is it? He tapped the end of his quill against his book. I have no idea what life after Hogwarts means for me.

Soft steps approached from behind Everhart, soon a shadow appeared on his paper, a very particular and feared shadow that Everhart, Zachiel and Aeternus feared out of all the fan girls in Hogwarts. A innocent yet horrifying smile was curled on her face, as well as those wonderful beady auburn eyes twinkled in the sunlight. "Hello Everhart!" Liel greeted in a cheery voice that Zachiel has said that gives shivers down the spine of anyone in Hogwarts. "What are you doing out all alone here? Where are Zachiel and Aeternus? They're usually with you... and what are you working on?" She bombarded him with questions one after another.

Everheart flinched, freezing up all over like a rabbit under the hungry stare of a bear. At least werewolves are a much more direct and rational opponent than... fangirls. He stiffly turned his head to look up at her. "U-um... nothing..." he said lowly. Then he shut his book and quickly stood up, taking a step back. "I was actually wondering the same thing, about where the others were, uh, you wouldn't happen to know would you?" She seemed to know everything about them after all. Well, not everything...

"I believe they're in the Great Hall with everyone else." Liel replied, taking a few steps after him. That scary smile was basically glued to her face now. "They were looking for you, so I've heard from some of my friends... but what are you doing all alone out here?" Her face slightly shifted into a curious stare, tilting her head to the side and still smiling brightly. Well, just put it behind a burning village with thunder and lightning everywhere and there you go, the face of sheer terror.

"I better go find them then," he said, stepping aside to pass her. She was just creeping him out all the more. Of course she corners me outside... alone... this could have serious repercussions if I'm not careful. The last thing he needed was to get in trouble. He was already a bit of a hazard as it was.

"Wait Everhart!" She whined, chasing after him. "Why won't you talk to me?!" She waved her arms in a bit of a flail, but chased after him. There was no way that Everhart was going to escape this easily! Especially on the first day.

Everheart looked back. "Um, I really have a lot to get done today, Miss Winters, maybe some other time," he said, his brow furrowing. He really did not want to have to put up with the Cult Leader of all people today. First day at Hogwarts was always one of the most stressful for him, and she sure was not helping.

"I'm pretty sure it's not all that much!" She whined at him, still chasing after him. She was a bit furious right now that the boys were ignoring her, the most beautiful girl in Hogwarts... er, not really. However, Everhart was saved when a strange flash of blue light appeared in front of Liel, and so she turned around abruptly and fled the other way... thinking Everhart was running the other way. "You're welcome." Arael said, putting her wand back and resumed her previous task, which was reading a book of course.

Everheart stopped, a little startled. He watched the girl run off in the other direction, then looked back at Arael. "Oh! Arael!" He made a half-grin as he rubbed the back of his head. "You saved my life there," he said, looking back where the girl had fled to. He glanced down, realizing he had dropped his quill. Picking it up, he rubbed the feather between his fingers, a distant expression suddenly in his eyes, and the smile replaced with a slight frown.

"Yes, I did." She said, still reading her book. However she looked up from her book and tilted her head to the side. "... You ok? You don't usually frown" She then resumed her book and continued to read from there. She set the book down after a moment and wrote down a page number and some other things, before folding up the piece of paper and placing it in her book. She shut her book closed and gathered everything up before dusting her cloak off. "Plus you look pretty grim."

Everheart's eyes narrowed. "Oh... I suppose I am..." He sighed softly, tucking the quill into the cover of his book. When he looked back up at Arael, he was was back to smiling, his regular self once more. "Should we go inside?" he asked. "It's getting a little cold out and..." he looked back up at the sky, "it might rain." Such a predicament was improbable, but he tended to know these sorts of things.

Arael shrugged. "Sure." She said, brushing her hair back over her shoulder. "I think it is supposed to rain today." She turned to where Liel ran off, it would be any minute that spell would have worn off. "Anyways. What classes do you have this year?" She asked, trying to start up a conversation.

Everheart started walking back to the Viaduct, pulling his list of classes out, figuring they could walk and talk at the same time. He really did want to find his friends. He had not had a chance to greet them on their arrival. "Here," he said, holding it out to her.

She took the paper and nodded, reading it for any classes before handing it back to him. "Nice." She said with a nod. "I'm still in the majority of my classes that I was in last year." She shrugged a little bit. "I'm not excited for Potions at all... but I am a bit hyped for Ghoul Studies." She grinned a little, that was one of the newer classes she had this year.

"Oh, you have that too?" he commented with a nod. "Then I guess we'll be able to share a class this year." He really did not mind having friends in other years. It was really refreshing to hear fresh opinions and meet people of vastly varied walks of life, but it did suck as far as hang out time in class. But then again, he never really had any friends in his actual grade, did he? "The teacher is Ravenclaw Head, right?" he asked. "I heard she's very... different." He had seen her in passing once or twice, but he never actually met the woman.

"Yes. And don't be afraid of the different because she's not creepy like the last few teachers. She's very sweet and doesn't waste time on creepy stories and say threats to other classes. Professor Castle is a very nice person. But she has a tendency to... hug people a lot." She was going to say glomp, but decided hug was a more proper word. The Ravenclaw Headmaster was such a nice person that every year she'd greet the newcomers and the returning students with hugs.
Speaking of which...
"Arael!!!" Seemingly from nowhere, Victoria nearly tackle hugged Arael, and almost squished her like a plush doll. Arael squirmed for a second before returning the hug slightly. "I heard you're in Ghoul Studies this year and I'm so excited! And your little sister is adorable!" Victoria squealed. She then stepped back and smiled at the Gryffindor student. "Oh! Hello there. I'm Professor Castle, head of Ravenclaw and Teacher of Ghoul Studies." It had looked like she ate a bucket load of sugar cookies.

As he passed through the Viaduct Courtyard, Gumo yawned again for the third hundred and fifty-eighth time. He still hadn't recovered from his late night schedule that he had been following ever since summer had started. It was all GUmi's fault, he decided, who would somehow convince him to pull all-nighters with her for really no apparent reason that he could fathom. It didn't occur to him that he was walking right into someone until his heavy Charms textbook landed on his foot. "Oh, dear, I'm sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going." her murmured as he bent down to pick the book up before standing up again, regarding the male before him. A tall Gryffindor, the male seemed older and vaguely familiar, bur he couldn't exactly remember where he had seen the boy before. "Um, you're not, well, hurt or anything, are you?" he asked, a bit worried now as he looked at his textbook. It seemed like he could murder someone with this brick.

Everheart twitched. "U-um, Professor Castle," he murmured in disbelief. Well, she looked like a professor, but she acted, what was that word? Oh, right: different. Well, he had been warned, hadn't he? "Nice to meet you, Professor Castle," he said politely, trying to determine just how this situation was going to go. She seemed alright enough, but she also put him on edge. Then something knocked into him, and he turned to see a young boy looking like something dug up from a grave, mumbling apologies and looking very worried. "I'm fine," he said, "are you though?" He tilted his head to the side a bit. "You look like you need a nap."

Victoria smiled and ruffled Arael's hair before looking towards the Hufflepuff kid who bumped into the Gryffindor kid. She talked with Arael a before heading off to go find her son.
Arael smiled a bit before looking towards the other kid, then looked to Everhart. "Yeah she's just a happy person. Usually some professors here are cuckoo or boring..." She looked to the Hufflepuff kid. "Yeah it looks like you got like ten minutes of sleep." She said with a bit of a frown. She knew where this kid was coming from.

"Thank you. And no, I didn't even get ten minutes." Gumo grumbled underneath his breath before he suddenly realized that there was a professor among them. It must be because his lack of sleep that his instincts were starting to dull. Stupid Gumi. He'll say no to whatever she asks him to do from now o, he decided, even though he knew very well that he would probably end up saying yes again to something his sister suggested. "Good morning, Professor Castle." he said as he dipped his head respectfully.

Everhart watched as Gumo greeted the Professor and then the Professor eventually leave, and he mostly stayed quiet the whole time. "We should have our dorm rooms all situated already," he pointed out. "So you should be able to get a nap in before anything important happens, if anything." He figured there would be some kind of meeting the Grand Hall eventually and then classes, when did those begin? Was that today or tomorrow? Maybe he needed more sleep too.

Arael stood there silently, moving her blue stripped scarf around her neck a bit more. It wasn't horrifically cold out, but she was a bit cold. Soon she looked over from behind them to see the wrath of Liel Winters approaching at high speeds. She looked between the two. "Hey we all should probably get out of the way... there's a pissed off Gryffindor Cult girl coming our way, and clocking speeds of the Firebolt Broomstick." She pointed towards the angered fangril, drawing closer and closer by the second.

Gumo blinked in a confused manner as he turned towards the fangirl. "Oh, wait, I know how you are!" he said as he pointed towards Everhart, stumbling back a few steps as he did so. "You're one of the three Gryffindor guys! Those people who have a cray cult following them!" he blurted out before suddenly realizing that he was also going to be situated in an attack by the cult girl. "Quick!" he said as he pushed Evenhart out of the way. "Alarte Ascendare!" he shouted as he pointed his wand at the girl. It should shoot her back into the air, buying them a few seconds of time. He was not about to be murdered by some crazy fan girl here, nor was he going to let anyone else be murdered. "Let's get out of here!" he said as he then grabbed Arael's sleeve and waved towards Evenhart before hurrying towards the Hufflepuff basements.

"Oh, good, my reputation proceeds me," he muttered sarcastically, then turned to view the object of his despair as it came flying his way. Then suddenly it wasn't. He looked at Gumo, incredulous, as the boy grabbed Arael and took off. "Can't say no to free help," he said, holding his book tight as he ran after them, hopefully before Liel recovered from the spell. The basement was not his first choice for a hideaway, but maybe Liel wouldn't look there.

Arael was dragged after them, keeping calm and holding her stuff close to her chest as Gumo semi dragged her to the basement. She didn't seem to mind though, and it was pretty funny that poor fan girl got subjected to two spells on her first day back. But she was a Ravenclaw, she really didn't care all that much.
